Trip Overview

We begin our adventure by picking you up at your accommodation and then we head south to our destination. The drive itself is something out of a movie! En route to the waterfall, we will drive along the coastline with epic views of the Pacific Ocean, and sections of jungle that will have you thinking you’re in Jurassic Park.

Upon arrival, our short hike down to the river begins! As we enter the canyon and round the final bend, your senses will heighten as we come face to face with a panoramic view of the majestic 150 ft waterfall. Leaving our vantage point we will guide you to the many different features Eco Chontales has to offer – multiple calm swimming holes, areas perfect for taking photos, a mini waterslide and even places to jump from! There is a small jump (6 feet) which is perfect for all members of the family, including the little ones! For the thrill-seeker there is a second jump of about 9 meters (28 feet +/-)!

After we have explored all the features of the waterfall, we will top off the experience by turning into Avatars. We will create a mini on-the-spot spa and apply mineral rich naturally-colored blue clay on our bodies. This “rainforest clay” we provide is sourced near fresh spring water and is renowned for its healthy skincare properties.

For those seeking relaxation, there are perfect places for setting down a towel and unwinding amidst the jungle! After all the fun and excitement, we will walk about 30 yards over to the river-side restaurant and enjoy a fresh and delicious typical Costa Rican meal to the sound of the waterfall.

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It!

Took the family on the Eco-Chontales waterfall experience. Paddle 9 is a class act from the start, starting with the hotel pick-up where you learn Costa Rican trivia, history, and culture on the ride up. Once we arrived we were literally the only people at the waterfall for an adrenaline-rushing experience like no other. We would definitely recommend Paddle 9. Shout out to Ismael, Damian, and Matt… If you spend a day with these guys you will experience Pura Vida and learn what Costa Rica is all about!!!

Guides were very attentive and informative. Waterfalls are beautiful and guides provide ropes if you want to jump. I liked having a smaller group, just 9 of us. They took us a special way that cut off some walking in the hot sun. Lunch was good typico food.

We went to the waterfall (eko Chantales) on a Tuesday (when maanuel antonio is closed. It was the highlight of our trip so far.Ismael, our guide, was fascinating, telling us about Costa Rica, the culture, and the wild life. His amicable explanations were a major part of why we had the best time. The waterfalls are beautiful. You can go swimming, jump into pools and so much more. The tour comes with a lunch and fruit which was great. I really recommend it. Went with my 10 and 12 year old daughters.
